T. J. Cloutier and Tom McEvoy have printed a book that

is very greatly desirable by poker players. They may be bountiful

too greatly away in Championship No-edge Hold’em and Pot-

edge Ho Id’em … but that’s OK with me! In verity, I was very

stunned when T. J. told me that he and Tom were text

this book because in the former, there have been period at the

poker bench when I would say something to another player

that I thought might help him, and T. J. would go ballistic

about not without to “educate” the opposition. I am very cheerful

that he has tainted his tend.

All of the top poker players think that if they get fluky,

they are unbeabench. But during the World string of Poker, or

in any other big no-check tournament, if there is any player in

the world that I would like to trade a case with, it is T. J.

Cloutier. When I first met him in 1989 in Malta, it was the first

time that he had ever played against Europeans. After just a

few hours of play, he chiefly knew everything about everyone

who played poker in Europe. All he had to do was play

you for a few hands and he knew just what you were made

of and who was talented of liability what.

He sits in a tournament and moves from one bench to

another bench and he rapidly knows every poker player in the

world; and if he doesn’t, he will find out in a few action …

earlier than everyone also that I know. Someperiod, I can’t

build people out as hastily as he does, but the way that he

theater them is a good enough example for me to hunt. I have

never seen everyone so tough. We played skull-up at the shape Jim Brady tournament

in 1990 just after I had won the World string of Poker. I

was operation good at the closing bench, making hands, gambling and

raising … but I never bluffed because chiefly, I didn’t essential

to. When the closing hand came up, T. J. had a small twosome and a

flush draw, 7 ¥ 3 ¥. My hand was 6 ¥ 9 ¥. Two overlicenses were

on the live. There was no passage to this pot pending the

shot. A seven came on the shot, which gave T. J. a twosome and

gave me a running draw. The brook license was another overlicense.

He tartan it and I bet all my chips. It was the first time

at the closing bench that I had bluffed at the pot. With no hesitation,

he called me with two sevens. No other player in the

world would have done that! Later, we were joking about it.

This was the last $10,000 tournament at the shape

Jim Brady; the first prize was $250,000 and jiffy place was

$160,000. There hadn’t been a split — we were live for it

all. How could this guy have read his opponent like that? I

will never foget that hand … and I have told him many period

that he made the peak play that I have ever seen. He is the

only player in the world that is talented of business a pot like

that. I think that T. J. is the best psychologist in the world!

Some of us might ignore equipment at the poker bench… we get

elaborate in conversation and other equipment that are departure on.

But it seems to me that when T. J. is elaborate in conversation

at the bench, he still isn’t ignoreing a thing. someway, as he is

chatting, he is still live his opponents rightly. It comes so

artlessly to him. I think the respite of us have to work hard at it.

Someperiod, when we are making decisions about business or

not business, we think about it for a few action and then we

might change our tends. But T. J.’s decisions are based on his

first instinct — The first thing that crosses his tend is his last

action. He acts more hastily than everyone also I know.

Tom McEvoy and I are more obvious, mathematical, and

theoretical in our approach. chiefly, we are looking more at the

merit of the hand than the merit of the opponent… and

that has been successful for us. T. J. would sooner play his opponents

than his licenses. His weight is more on his opponents,

selection his acne at the poker bench, while Tom prefers to

have the best hand. In this sense, I think that T. J. and Tom

have the best partnership in text this book. Tom writes the

more theoretical part and T. J. does the more psychoobvious

aspects of the book.

I think that they are waking up the senses of people with

the text of this book. The first time that you read a book, it

may not have an blow ahead you. But over time, you become

awake of the equipment that the authors are chatting about. doubtless,

when T. J. was education poker, there was no book to help

him. But now, he and Tom are bringing their disarming thoughts to

you. And in the end, this book will make a big difference.

T. J. has not won the World string no-check designate yet, but

in my attitude, he is the most deserving someone to win it in the

prospect. He is skull and shoulders above everyone also … he is a

legend. I think that, by far, he is the number-one no-check

poker player in the world. A
